'Guru En Aalu': Laugh-riot!
'Guru En Aalu': Laugh-riot!
Movie Review
Guru En Aalu' is a Tamil remake of the Shah Rukh Khan hit, 'Yes Boss' (1997), directed by Aziz Mirza. The Selvaa directed film is nowhere near the original, but it has many a sparkling moments and makes one laugh.
Though the film has interesting plot, the director and actors have been trying to out do the original, it seems. Most of the actors, including Madhavan look a little unnatural!
Madhavan plays Guru who goes out of his way to please his lecherous boss (Krishna, played by Abbas), so that he can go up in life. But, once Guru falls in love with Seema (Mamta Mohandas), an ambitious model, things change. The boss also has an eye on Seema and Guru tries hard to save her from the designs of his boss.
Madhavan has given a decent performance, but lacks the spontaneous charm of King Khan. Mamta, with her hour hourglass figure, is a treat to watch, but is no patch on the bubbly role played by Juhi Chawla in the original.
Vivek evokes quite a few laughs in the role of a fake Yoga techer and a sidekick of Guru.

Mani commands… Ash disobeys…
Mani Ratnam is known as a director who is set on being a perfectionist. He shot to limelight for his perfectionism and professionalism.
It is well known that the director is working on the bilingual Ravan, which stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Priya Mani, Abishek Bachchan among others.
Reportedly, the director wanted Ash to wear no make up for the second half of the film. Sources have it that Mani wanted that makeup-less look to bring out the emotions and sufferings of a wife separated from her husband.
But Ash is in no mood to listen and was seen sneaking out when time permitted to get a basic make up done. However, the director who spotted the slightestchange in her looks promptly sent her back to have it removed.
After Anushka, it’s Trisha…
It could be the moderate success of Arundhathee or just the usual phenomenon of dubbing, Krishna, a Telugu movie with Trisha in the lead is being dubbed into Tamil.
The movie with a quirky title, Madura Thimiru, is releasing next month.
Madura Thimiru has Ravi Teja playing Trisha’s male lead with Kotta Srinivasa Rao, Shayaji Shinde and Dhandapani in vital roles.
The movie is produced by singer Mano and Lakshmi Venkateshwara productions and the music is scored by Chakri. The flick was directed by V V Vinayak in Telugu earlier.
Asal – Ajith hailed, Rajini calls it a family affair
Asal the Ajith starrer to be produced by Sivaji Productions was launched this morning at 9.30 with the traditional pooja at the Late Sivaji’s house Annai Illam at Boag Road. This event witnessed the presence of noted luminaries from the film world like super star Rajinikanth, Soundarya Rajini, director K Balachander, Suriya, Karthi, S A Chandrashekar, Avm Saravanan, P.Vasu, Sakthi, Jayam Raja, Editor Mohan, Sathyaraj and Lyricst Vairamuthu.
Most of the male dignitaries were spotted in the traditional Tamil costume of Veshti and shirt. Ajithkumar was as usual smart in his silk shirt and dhoti with the Vettarival Meesai. Prabhu who spoke on the occasion said that it is customary for all Sivaji Production’s films to commence with a pooja in Annai Illam and Asal is no exception. He further said, “Though Rajinikanth is a super star, he is a gentle and cultured human being to be with and Ajith is just a replica of him. He is such a fine human being.”
Director Saran hoped that Asal also will be a big hit like Chandramukhi. He also owed his success in the film field to his Guru K Balachander and good friend Ajithkumar. On Asal, he said, “Ajith will be seen in two different getups in the film. There will be two heroines but the names are not yet finalized. This will be music director Bharathwaj’s 50th film. Camera will be cranked by Nirav Shah who will be assisted by Prashanth”. Vairamuthu, lyricist of the film stated, “The trilogy of me, Bharathwaj and Saran has always worked magic and I am confidant that this magic will continue in Asal also”. While speaking about Saran, Kavi Perarasu said that some directors make films for heroes while some others for producers. However Saran is one director who satisfies everyone.
Superstar Rajinikanth said that though his daughter Soundarya generally does not participate in such functions, she agreed to come today because it is a family affair. Films like Paalum Pazhamum and Veerapandiya Kattabomman which were launched from Annai Illam recorded huge success. Likewise Rajinikanth hoped and wished that Asal also continue in the same success track. When Ultimate star Ajith rose to speak he said, “I have seen many ups and downs in my life and career. These experiences have taught me to follow strict discipline in my personal life. I am happy to feature in Sivaji Production’s film.”
Suriya’s restriction to fans
Suriya-starrer Ayan, which hit the screens recently, has turned out to be a blockbuster. Though the star is happy over the film’s outcome, he is apparently perturbed too - the reason being the mobile number that he mentions in Ayan as his.
According to Suriya, the team chose that particular number after ensuring that it was not working. But to their dismay they have found that it belonged to a bank employee, Raja.
Disturbed with over a number of calls everyday asking for Suriya, Raja got in touch with the actor’s manager to sort out the issue.
He also expressed his inability to change the number as he had been using it for many years. Feeling responsible for Raja’s plight, Suriya has now requested all his fans not to contact the mobile number.
